Let’s talk about the Fire Signs!!!
Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius as Sun, Moon, and Rising Signs 🔥
Alright, it’s time we talked about the signs a little bit. I know everyone who reads this probably knows a bit about their own Sun Sign, but they probably have no idea about any of the other signs.
When it comes to Astrology 101, the very first class is getting to know the 12 zodiac signs. Of course, what you won’t learn in that class is how those signs manifest as a Sun, Moon, and Rising Sign.
Now, I didn’t start the Helios House Newsletter off by going through the signs, and that’s mainly because there’s more to unpack than you might realise. Now, I’m ready – I’m ready to tell you what each sign is like and how they might appear in the people you interact with day-to-day.
As we all know, there are 12 zodiac signs and to be completely honest with you, going through all 12 signs and how they express themselves as Sun, Moon, and Rising Signs is going to take a while. So, consider this the first edition of a little series, where we’re going to dissect each sign to help us understand them better.
The Fire Signs
We’re kicking this new series off with the Fire Signs because Leo season is just around the corner, and because I have also been interacting with a lot of Aries placements lately, so it just felt fitting.
The Fire Signs in astrology are Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. They’re all incredibly passionate signs, but they show their passion in very different ways (which we’ll get into in a second). They can come across as a bit dramatic and like they have a short fuse, and usually need to keep themselves moving in some capacity. Moving their bodies is quite important so the fire within them doesn’t get too wild and burn everyone around them. Of course, some people are better at keeping this fire under wraps than others.
Fire Signs are quite driven and once they’ve made their minds up about something, it can be quite hard to take them off track. Many people might think Fire Signs can be a bit narcissistic, because they can sometimes have a one-track mind and be a bit unaware of how their actions are affecting other people, but once they realise what’s happening they are usually quick to change their ways.
The Fire Signs are some of the best people to have in your corner when you’re looking for motivation. They’ll kick you in the butt when you need to, and make sure you reach the finish line.
Aries
Aries Sun
We love an Aries. Aries Suns just march to the beat of their own drum and 99.9% of the time, it works in their favour. Aries Suns always have a great sense of humour, an innovative mind, and are willing to experiment to see how far they can push themselves to go. Aris Suns tend to be great entrepreneurs, just because they aren’t afraid to fail. If they do, and someone calls them out for it, they’ll be the first to snap back by saying, “at least I fucking gave it a go!”
Aries Suns are very independent and while some can get along with authority figures, most prefer to either be in a position of authority, or just work on their own. They’re really good at thinking on their feet and are usually the first to dive into action, however they are also quite impatient and impulsive. Ever heard the phrase “look before you leap”? Well, an Aries heard it once somewhere and decided it was bullshit, so they just kept leaping into whatever it was they wanted to leap into.
An Aries Sun will stick out like a sore thumb if a person has a Fire or Air Rising Sign, however an Aries with a Water or Earth Rising Sign will be a lot more reserved and will keep their firey nature under wraps until they decide they’re comfortable enough to let it out.
Aries Moon
This is probably one of the most emotional Moon Signs you’ll ever come across. You thought a Cancer Moon was emotional?! Wait until you meet an Aries Moon!
An Aries Moon is extremely passionate about almost everything they do. When they’re sad they cry, when they’re ecstatic they cry, when they’re angry they cry, when they’re feeling some kind of way, but they don’t actually know what that feeling is… they’ll cry.
Now being emotional is something an Aries Moon embraces, so if they’re feeling not-so-great because of something you did, they’re going to let you know about it. They’ll sit and talk through everything with you until you understand how your actions affected them. In a similar vein, if someone does something to someone precious to them, an Aries Moon will be the first to step up and defend that precious person with everything they’ve got. Never mess with the friend of an Aries Moon, if you know what’s good for you. Of course, they may also say something sassy a tad too loud and end up causing conflict for themselves without realising it. So, maybe make sure your Aries Moon friend isn’t gossiping too loudly.
Something an Aries Moon should do to keep themselves emotionally regulated is do some form of physical activity. Whether it’s just a simple walk or a full-on boxing session, releasing aggression through movement will make you feel a million times better, no matter what emotion is rolling through that heart of yours.
Aries Rising
I’ve come across a lot of Aries Risings in my time and if there’s one thing I’ve learned about them, is that when they’re locked into something, they’re truly locked in. An Aries Rising can get so engulfed in what they’re doing that they completely forget that other people exist in the world, which is great for concentrating on tasks, but horrible for maintaining healthy relationships.
Aries Risings will make plans, not tell you that you’re involved in the plan until a day or two before said plans are meant to take place and get angry at you when you tell them they should’ve reached out and asked you if you were free first. They may start a project thinking it’ll all work out well, but then watch their project crumble because they didn’t lay a solid foundation first (like others told them too) and get angry at others before they admit defeat about a week later.
This is a bit of a long-winded way to say Aries Risings tend to jump the gun, and leap before they look. This can be great in some circumstances, but it does also mean they can leave a trail of chaos behind them that everyone else has to clean up. I know this is sounding quite negative, but I never said this was going to be nice, now did I?!
Although Aries Risings can be very one-track minded, they’re honestly one of the most motivating friends you can have. If you’re deciding on whether or not to start a project, Aries Risings will be the first ones to tell you to go for it. They’ll also clear up any indecision you have with a simple answer. They know not everything is that deep, and so if you’re talking to them and they can see you’re making a mountain out of a molehill, they’ll stop you and tell you to your face, that you’re thinking about it too much. They’ll give you a real kick up the butt and tell you to get going because honestly, Aries Risings don’t have time for silly things like indecision.
Leo
Leo Sun
Leo Suns get a bad rap for being narcissistic, selfish, and elitist and I’m here to tell you that’s not exactly true. Any Leo Sun that shows these traits is a Leo Sun that cares a bit too much about how they’re perceived by other people. A Leo Sun who’s confident in who they are, what they bring to the table, and how their individuality can help not only themselves, but others shine in the world, is actually a really fun time.
Leo Suns are incredibly silly and goofy. They can come across as a bit childish at times, but that’s just because they know, like their Aries pals, that not everything’s that deep. Sometimes you just need to hope for the best and give things a go! A Leo Sun takes pride in their appearance, but they don’t take too much notice of trends. Instead, they’ll wear what works for them and use it to express their creativity. On that note, Leo Suns are incredibly creative and will let that creativity shine in so many different ways. They may not paint, but they may be a great hairdresser, make-up artist, costume designer, choreographer, or actor.
Leo Suns are incredibly passionate about other people. If you know a Leo who doesn’t like other people much, then maybe see if they’re okay because a happy Leo shines from within and wants the people they love to shine as well. They’re incredible cheerleaders and will support you in whatever it is you’re doing by making sure you feel confident. Leo Suns are incredible leaders because they’re empathetic enough to notice when someone in their team is having a rough time. If a Leo leader isn’t doing that, it may be because they’ve got their own struggles or because they have an Aries Rising…
Leo Moon
Leo is ruled by the Sun, so having a Leo Moon can feel a bit uncomfortable. One the one hand, you want to shine bright and have your hard work acknowledged by the people around you, but on the other hand you hate being in the spotlight. You hate feeling vulnerable, and when you’re the centre of attention, you’re fully exposed and everyone can see what you’re bringing to the table, and for a Leo Moon, that thought is scary as fuck!
Leo’s are extremely creative and the best way for a Leo Moon to regulate their emotional world is to harness that creativity in some shape or form. It could involve a quiet moment of painting or drawing, but to be honest, Leo’s are born performers, so I’d actually recommend singing your heart out to your favourite song, dancing around your living room, watching a TV show or movie that really hits you in the feels (something sad if you need to cry, something funny if you’ve had a stressful day, and some sci-fi if you just need to disconnect), or partaking in a game of DnD where you get to embody a whole new character and act you heart out.
Leo Moons, like all fire signs, are incredibly passionate, especially when it comes to the people around them. They want everyone to be in good spirits, so they’ll be the first to ask you if you’re okay when you seem down and come to your aid when you’ve been though a stressful time. Just make sure you do the same for them because a Leo Moon may seem to always have a bright, sunny and kind disposition, but they may be struggling behind closed doors, so a mental health check in with them is always welcome. Remember, these guys don’t like to be the centre of attention, but sometimes they need to suck it up and let other people be as kind to them as they are to others.
Something as small as a “thank you” or a “good job” goes a long way with a Leo Moon, just don’t fawn over it too much or they’ll start to feel like the compliment is insincere, and if there’s one thing a Leo Moon cannot stand, its insincerity. Leave all fake feelings and action at the door when you visit a Leo Moon thank you very much!
Leo Rising
A Leo Rising is easy to spot because they take great pride in their appearance. They love a label, so they’ll usually flaunt all their favourite designer pieces (if they have them), and make sure every look they put together is meticulously crafted. They want to be perceived by others in a certain way and will make sure they’re perceived that way no matter what.
Leo Risings are generally quite kind, always coming across as quite friendly and warm when they meet new people. You’d think Leo Risings would be the most selfish Rising Signs of the bunch, but in reality they just prefer to be in control of their own narrative and will make sure you only see the side of them they want you to see. This may sound a bit two-faced of them, but like Leo Moons, not all Leo Risings want to be in the spotlight, they just want you to know what they’re capable of and to give them a chance, that’s all.
A Leo Rising can sometimes say the wrong thing, but they do, they’ll become instantly aware of it and want to resolve the situation fairly quickly. Leo Risings don’t want to bring people down on purpose, they want to lift people up and hopefully, be lifted up themselves, so dragging others down isn’t their MO.
As with the Leo Sun, if you do come across a Leo Rising who is a bit standoffish or seems a bit pompous, it’s usually because of a lack of confidence. It’s not something a Leo Rising wants to advertise to the world, but it can sometimes leak out. So, if you happen to be a Leo Rising, make sure you’re doing what you need to do to lift yourself up and then you’ll be able to lift others up to.
Sagittarius
Sagittarius Sun
Are Sagittarius Suns misunderstood? A bit. Most people think that because Sagittarius is a Fire Sign, they just as impulsive as an Aries and as expressive as a Leo, but really Sagittarius Suns are actually the most relaxed and easy-going of all the Fire Signs. This is probably because they’re also a mutable sign and can easily adapt to different situations.
Sagittarius Suns are very wise and usually have a lot of knowledge hidden in those brains of theirs, but they won’t tell you that. They’ll share their knowledge when they deem it necessary, they usually won’t start lecturing you with new life lessons out of nowhere (if they do though, just listen because they’re most likely doing it because they don’t feel heard in other areas of their lives, or they may be feeling a bit isolated).
Not every Sagittarius Sun is a bohemian globetrotter (although some definitely are). You’ll often find that Sagittarius Suns are a part of some kind of subculture, but that could be anything from cybergoth, to tradwife, surfing, cosplaying, and wellness. What I’m trying to say here is that a Sagittarius Sun usually has their own way of thinking and surrounds themselves with people with others who think like them, rather than bothering with people who feel the need to question who they are and why they do the things they do. They want the freedom to do what they want and want others around them to support them in that. They don’t feel the need to explain themselves to you and so if you ask a Sagittarius Sun to explain something, they’ll either explain it because they’re in the mood, or tell you to do your Googles. If a Sagittarius Sun has a Fire or Air Rising Sign, they may be more inclined to tell you to do your own research, but if they have a Water or Earth Rising Sign, they may have more patience for your ignorance.
Sagittarius Moon
Look, I’m going to be honest, when a Sagittarius Moon is going through it and is deep in their feels, just leave them be. Don’t get all up in their grill by asking if they’re okay and to talk to you about it, because that’s the last thing they want to do. When a Sagittarius Moon is feeling down, it’s best to just let them move through it on their own because all they really need is time to themselves to sit and process their feelings without any outside interference. Most of the time it’s the actions of other people that have made them feel this way in the first place, so give them the freedom they crave so badly, and let them deal with it themselves.
If you’re a Sagittarius Moon and you just audibly yelled “thank you!” after reading that, you’re welcome. Also, you’re probably already acutely aware that the best way to regulate your emotions is by doing something on your own, whether that’s just going for a walk, reading about what you’re feeling in a quiet room, or going for a drive, as long as you’re able to connect with your feelings and process them in your own space, you usually will feel a lot better.
Like Aries and Leo Moons, Sagittarius Moons are quite passionate, but they tend to express their passion for things by learning everything they can about it. If they’re passionate about golf, they’ll absorb every piece of golf-related information they can find. If they’re passionate about other people and their feelings, they might throw themselves into studying psychology or counselling.
They pair their passion with both action and knowledge, which makes them feel more well-equipped to navigate this crazy world. However, if the world gets a bit too crazy for them, don’t be surprised if they go off-grid for a little while. They might just need a day or two out in the wilderness to recharge their batteries and then they’ll come back guns blazing!
Sagittarius Rising
Now, if there’s anyone in the world of astrology that will come across like a bit of a know-it-all when you first meet them, it’s a Sagittarius Rising. They don’t mean to though; they just happen to know a lot about the world and are eager to learn more about things and so their initial thought when meeting someone new is to tell them what they know about stuff. Which is fine, but if they do it at the wrong time, they can definitely come across as someone who gives unsolicited advice.
Sagittarius Risings have seen a lot and learned a lot in life, so they do actually have a lot of great knowledge in their noggins. They’re also very optimistic people, so they’ll usually be the first to throw a “she’ll be right” into the mix if they’re faced with a challenge. This goes for Sagittarius Suns as well, but Sagittarius Risings just tend to ooze optimism, so that’s why I’m bringing it up now. A Sagittarius Rising loves a challenge, but the important part of them being successful is being left alone to do what they need to do. If you let them cook, they’ll usually get everything done incredibly well.
A Sagittarius Rising is always willing to learn and will listen intently to the person trying to teach them things. I once read a series of birth charts at an event, the Sagittarius Rising was the only one who whipped out their phone and asked if they could record the reading for later. They hung onto every word and kept that recording going so they could analyse the results later on. Sagittarius Risings are very philosophical and love to dissect the world around them, which can be really interesting to watch. They’re usually the people presenting very astute observations on TikTok and may rub some people the wrong way, but they’re not concerned about that. To them, as long as they’re sharing the facts, then that’s all that matters.
A Sagittarius Rising is an interesting character because they observe the world, want to learn more about it, and are very willing to share the data they’ve accumulated. They just need to remember that not everyone may be interested in the same topics as them, so they need to find their audience (or you know, just read the room every once in a while).
And we’ve made it to the end! Of course I could’ve gone on a lot longer, but that would make this more of a novel than it already is. Next week we’ll have another round of signs for you to read about and if you have a preference, reply to the email and let me know – I am but a humble servant of the people (sometimes…).
i loooove how you write readings, just been EATING THEM UP!
